Mablethorpe

The Learning Centre in Mablethorpe has been open since 2008. We offer a programme for 16-18s called Flare as well as accredited and non-accredited courses for adults.

We support those looking for employment through our weekly Job Club (Thursday mornings 10.00 – 12.00) and are happy to assist anyone looking to explore their learning options.

Free computer access is also available.

Explore your iPad / Tablet

We start by looking at what an iPad or table tis and what you can do with it. We then look at how to connect the iPad to a Wi-Fi network and setting up an ID account. We go onto look at how to find and download apps, such as Email, Safari and BBC weather and how to manage them. Finally we look at how learners can benefit when using them in daily life. Level 2 Maths (Functional Skills)

Functional Maths helps you to develop a wide range of maths skills including number, decimals, fractions, measurement, area, volume and data collection/statistics. Level 2 English (Functional Skills)

Functional English is a full certificate programme which helps you to develop your reading, writing and speaking and listening. Traditional Lincolnshire Crafts

Try your hand at some traditional Lincolnshire crafts using local materials. Make your own corn dolly, and try your hand at willow weaving whilst meeting new people in a friendly and supportive environment. Access to Higher Education Diploma: Health Professions

Access to HE is a Level 3 programme which prepares adults for a range of degrees in health professions such as: Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Health Studies (with GCSEs). Attendance is for one day per week but course members must be able to allocate at least an additional two days for study. GCSE Mathematics

This course covers number (calculations, fractions, decimals, percentages), statistics, algebra and geometry, and all assessment is at the end of the programme. GCSE is an essential requirement for entry to many higher level training programmes, apprenticeships and jobs. This friendly and supportive course is designed to develop confidence, self-esteem and resilience. GCSE English

GCSE English is required for many jobs and further learning – it is the “gold standard” qualification. Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) accredited training courses teach people to spot the symptoms of mental health issues, offer initial help and guide a person towards support. We don’t teach people to be therapists, but we do teach people to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis - and even potentially stop a crisis from happening. | Start date Monday 01/10/2018 | Length: 8 weeks | Centre: Mablethorpe | Cost: £ 45

Health & Safety for Employment

The programme offers a package of health and safety training using online materials and tutorial support, starting with an Introduction to Health and Safety at Work. Learners then have a choice of topics such as Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Back Safety and COSHH Awareness, according to their individual needs. Units include: Level 1 Award in Equality and Diversity, Level 1 Award in Understanding Employment, Business and Enterprise, Level 1 Award in Environmental Sustainability, Level 1 Award in Internet Safety for Users, Level 1 Award in Healthy Living, Level 1 Award in Health and Safety Awareness, CITB Health, Safety and Environment Course and Test and the CSCS Test. Students will need English skills in reading and writing at Level 1. Level 2 Certificate in understanding Autism

This qualification aims to develop learners’ understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism – covering the person-centred approach and the influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilling lives. It will also support progression to employment in a variety of sectors where an understanding of autism is required. Level 2 Certificate in Business Administration

This course provides you with the knowledge that is required to work in a range of environments in a business administration role. Emergency First Aid at Work (QualSafe Level 3 Certificate)

Everyone should do this course! It includes a wide range of tasks relating to managing an emergency – examination of the casualty, unconsciousness, control of bleeding and burns/scalds. Digital Photography for Improvers - for business and leisure

This course looks to develop further the basic photographic skills learnt on the CLIP Digital Photography for Beginners course (although this can also be undertaken as a stand-alone course). It looks to put learners in control of their cameras by understanding camera settings whilst avoiding getting bogged down in technical jargon!
